• About Me

Drexel Heard II is an accomplished political pundit with a decade of expertise in government relations, communications, and strategic planning. Heard's experience has helped him earn roles on campaigns for the local, state, and national levels of both the Republican and Democratic parties. Additionally, he gives political comments to other media venues.

Drexel has held several jobs in or around politics. Given the nature of the duties, many positions overlap. Vice President, Southern California and Los Angeles for Strategies360, and the youngest and first African American Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, while simultaneously working as an on-air analyst in U.S. politics for BBC Radio and others, were among his most significant prior positions.

After nearly two years as a Special Events Marketing Executive for Macy's, Heard served as the Director of Special Events at Michael's Santa Monica from 2018 to 2019. Before this, he was visual, merchandising, and shop design project coordinator at Universal Studios Hollywood. This position helped him acquire many of the organizational and management abilities he continues to apply to his initiatives. Heard also analyses alternative media channels, such as NPR, Channel Q, AfterBuzzTV, and BBC Radio.

Heard completed high school at Camp Lejeune before enrolling at North Carolina State University. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from N.C. State. While at the university, he engaged in various groups, such as student government, UNCASG, and University Theater.

Working behind the scenes on a political campaign or engaging in external communications on behalf of a candidate or party needs a high level of discernment and expertise. While in college, Heard travelled in bipartisan political circles and gained a great awareness of how to appeal to the moderate branches of both major parties.

He boasts a profound understanding of domestic and foreign affairs, a unique grasp of significant Washington, D.C. news, and the ability to distil complex problems into relevant updates for staff and potential voters. These combined abilities make him a skilled leader who can effortlessly handle detailed talks on topics and more generalized updates. Important as it is to communicate with the public, Heard's direct but friendly demeanour enables him to instantly and deeply engage with any audience, both as an individual and on behalf of clients.

As a communications specialist, Heard is dedicated to staying current on the most popular social media platforms and applying campaign and political advocacy best practices. He frequently publishes his news updates and commentary on his pages, as well as in interviews and as a media analyst for numerous major news agencies.

In addition to his work for numerous political organizations and groups, Drexel Heard is actively involved with several local charities. He is on the board of the Human Rights Campaign with a focus on Community Engagement and is a member of Equality California's Board of Advisors and Political Action Committee. The Human Rights Campaign is one of the most significant LGBTQ+ advocacy groups in the United States that works to better the lives of the community by promoting legislation.

Similarly, Equality California aims to create a society where LGBTQ+ individuals enjoy complete equality. Equality California is affiliated with the Equality Foundation, the biggest LGBTQ+ statewide group in the United States.

In addition to his present positions on the Human Rights Campaign and Equality California boards, Heard was the first black Community Vice-President of Stonewall Democrats Los Angeles, the oldest LGBTQ+ political advocacy organization.

In addition, he is a member of the Los Angeles City Task Force on Youth Development. The City Council established the task force in 2019 to enhance collaboration between the various Los Angeles city departments, community groups, and other agencies serving youth to evaluate the efficacy of existing youth programs and propose solutions for connecting more youth to needed services.

Heard enjoys golfing, drinking whiskey, rewatching The West Wing, and is a Harry Potter specialist when he is not following up on the newest political comments and news stories.
